Social entrepreneur and Australian of the Year 2020

Adelaide-based ophthalmologist, with a passionate commitment to social impact and humanitarian endeavours, Dr. James Muecke AM was named Australian of the Year, 2020 for his 32 years of humanitarian work. Muecke is the founder of the not-for-profit organisation Sight For All, which aims to fight against blindness in the Aboriginal and mainstream communities of Australia and some of the poorest countries in the world.
Using this powerful platform to further raise awareness of poor diet affecting Australia has also earned him a number of awards including the Australian Medical Association’s President’s Leadership Award in 2013, and Ernst & Young’s Social Entrepreneur for Australia in 2015.
